The University of Embu participated in the Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Society (STRI4SOCIETY) Exhibition at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from Monday 18th May- Friday 22nd May, 2026.

The University was showcasing a wide range of innovative research and transformative technologies aimed at addressing societal challenges and improving livelihoods. Among the key innovations on exhibition are Kengrot, Cracksfox Self-Healing Concrete, Bio-based Fertilizer (BbF-Plus), research on Enhancing Prevention of Gastrointestinal Malignancies, Cricket Farming for Food and Feed, an Adjustable Power and Lighting Scheme, Afyabora-AI, an artificial intelligence solution that alerts doctors with AI-generated patient health recommendations, and Akilibora, an AI-driven mental wellness support platform for students.
The exhibition was officially opened by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Abdulrazak Shaukat. The keynote addresses were delivered by Italian Ambassador in Kenya, Dr. Vincenzo Del Monaco and European Ambassador, Ms. Henriette Geiger.
The closing ceremony was graced by the Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi.

Dr. Dominic Kitavi, a senior Lecturer and Chairman of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at the School of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Embu, has received a ten-week travel grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan and the National Taipei University. Dr. Kitavi's expertise in Science and Technology has caught the attention of the College of Business, National Taipei University, where he will engage in lectures and academic exchange activities from June to September 2024 as a foreign professional.

This exclusive grant highlights Dr. Kitavi's international recognition and the fruitful cross-disciplinary collaboration with Prof. Lin Cai-Chuan from the Department of Statistics at National Taipei University. The University of Embu celebrates this remarkable achievement as Dr. Dominic Kitavi takes his expertise abroad, fostering global academic partnerships and knowledge exchange.

We anticipate the insightful contributions and knowledge-sharing that will emerge from this collaborative endeavor, amplifying University of Embu's presence on the global stage of science and technology.

Dr. Hezron Mogaka, a lecturer and researcher at the University of Embu's School of Agriculture, secures a groundbreaking grant totaling KES 31,877,404 from the National Research Fund (NRF). The grant will fund the innovative project "Biochar & Insect-Composed Organic Fertilizers in Kenya (BIO Kenya)" for two years starting in May 2024, showcasing University of Embu's commitment to cutting-edge agricultural research.
